Fahrenheit 451

The unexamined life is not worth living.
Socrates (469 BC – 399 BC), in Plato, Dialogues, Apology

Thurs/Fri – SSR (15); Share interviews/biographies (20-30?); Explain Socratic Seminar procedures (10+); ThinkPairShare re: quotes on board w/F451 themes-are they right or wrong? why? (5); Notebook writing (10).

The man who doesn’t read good books has no advantage over the man who can’t read them.
Mark Twain (1835 – 1910)

“You don’t have to burn books to destroy a culture. Just get people to stop reading them.”

Ray Bradbury quotes

*Note: If I assign this book again – especially for summer, I would include an assignment where students would be required to research the allusions in the text. This is a great way to get them exposed to other books. Maybe even encourage students to read some of those texts. Would work especially well w/online summer homework as it’s easily self guided and students could share the info they gain re: different allusions.
